What weapons in the cold war caused controversy that the US used?

Everything from the first atomic bombs delivered by B-29s in 1945 to the Strategic Defense Initiative proposed by Ronald Reagan in the early 80s was criticized and protested by isolationists, pacifists, liberal protesters Socialists, Marxists, closet Communists, admitted Communists, and every other anti-American fruit cake on the planet. Much (or most) of it was orchestrated by the KGB.
